The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary & Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce that Professor Sandro Nuno Ferreira de Serpa of the University of the Azores has been awarded the prestigious QAHE Honorary Fellowship for his exceptional contributions to the field of higher education.
Professor Serpa, a highly esteemed educator with over 24 years of experience, has made remarkable contributions to the advancement of teaching, research, and service throughout his distinguished career.

As a Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of the Azores, Serpa has consistently demonstrated a passion for delivering high-quality, student-centered education. His teaching philosophy emphasizes respect, empowerment, and the development of well-rounded individuals prepared to navigate the complexities of an ever-changing society.
Serpa's dedication to educational excellence extends beyond the classroom. He has held several influential leadership roles within the university, including serving as Head of the Department of Sociology, Director of the Social Work Program, Coordinator of the Scientific-Pedagogical Supervision Team for Social Work Internships, Member of the Pedagogical Council, and Member of the Quality Commission. These positions have allowed him to shape educational policies, drive innovative pedagogical practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Sandro Serpa's scholarly achievements are equally impressive. He has amassed an extensive publication record, with over 360 articles published in international journals, books, and other scientific outlets across a diverse range of countries. Many of these publications focus on the field of higher education and the effective communication of scientific knowledge.
The QAHE Honorary Fellowship Award ceremony will take place on June 25, 2024, at the QAHE Annual Conference in Paris, France. Professor Serpa will be recognized for his exceptional achievements and will deliver a keynote address highlighting his insights and experiences in fostering excellence in higher education.
