The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary & Higher Education (QAHE) is proud to announce that Dr. Thilliar Varnakulasingam [B.Sc., F.C.E., F.R.S.A., M.C.I.L., F.R.I.P.H., A.C.P.] has been selected as the 2024 recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Scholar Award in the field of Interdisciplinary Studies.
This honor is bestowed upon exceptional individuals who have demonstrated a lifelong commitment to advancing education, academic scholarship, and professional development. Dr. Varnakulasingam's illustrious career and remarkable achievements make him a most deserving laureate.
After completing his primary and secondary education in Sri Lanka, Dr. Varnakulasingam embarked on an extraordinary academic journey. He earned his B.Sc. from Dr. Alagappa College in India, and went on to pursue extensive further studies through distance learning programs with prestigious institutions such as Massey University, Curtin University, Auckland University of Technology, and the Open University of Britain.
Dr. Varnakulasingam's academic accolades include being elected as a Fellow Chartered Educator (FCE) by the International Council of CCLP Worldwide, a Member of the World Education Research Association, and a Fellow of the College of Preceptors (London), now known as the College of Teachers. He also holds numerous other professional qualifications in fields ranging from linguistics to hospitality management.
In addition to his scholarly achievements, Dr. Varnakulasingam has been recognized for his outstanding contributions in other areas, including sport, journalism, and voluntary work. His lifelong dedication to continuous learning and self-improvement is truly inspiring.
The QAHE Distinguished Scholar Award will be presented to Dr. Varnakulasingam at the association's annual gala dinner on June 15, 2024. The event will celebrate his remarkable accomplishments and his enduring legacy as an esteemed educator and scholar.
