QAHE's Dual Accreditation Partnership with AAKR in Kyrgyzstan

New agreement enables QAHE-accredited institutions to obtain additional accreditation from Kyrgyzstan's quality assurance agency

The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary & Higher Education (QAHE), a leading independent quality assurance agency, today announced a new dual accreditation partnership with the Quality and Rating Accreditation Agency (AAKR) in the Kyrgyz Republic.

This strategic collaboration will provide QAHE-accredited educational institutions the opportunity to seamlessly obtain additional accreditation from AAKR, further strengthening the recognition and credibility of their academic programs both regionally and globally.

The dual accreditation arrangement was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between QAHE and AAKR in January 2020. AAKR, which was officially registered in the National Register of Accreditation Agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic in December 2022, has a mandate to improve the quality of the education system in Kyrgyzstan through independent accreditation and rating of educational organizations and programs.

"We are excited to partner with AAKR and offer this unique dual accreditation pathway to our accredited institutions," said Natasha Perkins of QAHE. "By combining the expertise and global recognition of QAHE with AAKR's regional standing, we can elevate the quality and visibility of our members' academic programs, while also contributing to the sustainable development of the higher education sector in Kyrgyzstan."

Key benefits for QAHE-accredited institutions participating in the dual accreditation arrangement include:

  • 1. Obtaining dual accreditation from both QAHE and AAKR
  • 2. Enhancing the reputation and recognition of academic programs in Kyrgyzstan and globally
  • 3. Leveraging the complementary knowledge and best practices of the two quality assurance agencies
  • 4. Engaging in joint research, training, and capacity-building initiatives
  • 5. Collaborating with a wider network of quality-focused educational institutions in the region

  • The application process for the dual accreditation arrangement is streamlined, with QAHE-accredited institutions only needing to contact the QAHE Accreditation Committee to express their interest. QAHE and AAKR will then coordinate the review and decision-making process.

The AAKR accreditation obtained through this dual arrangement will be valid for three years, as long as the QAHE accreditation remains in good standing. QAHE-accredited institutions interested in participating in this dual accreditation program are encouraged to reach out to the QAHE Accreditation Committee at accreditation@qahe.org for more information.
